Why A Cruise Ship Wedding Is Fun For Everyone

Why A Cruise Ship Wedding Is Fun For Everyone
By Mary Hanna

A cruise ship wedding can be more fun than a traditional wedding. All cruise lines have different packages and rules for receptions and number of guests. The internet and your travel agent should have all the information about a wedding on a cruise ship for any particular cruise line. Not all the captains are licensed to marry you, but many lines will have a priest or rabbi or some other officiate that may provide these ceremonies. If you considering a cruise ship wedding, plan early so you will not be disappointed. Lots of cruise ships limit the number of ceremonies per cruise. Some of the Cruise Lines that offer cruise ship weddings are discussed below.

Princess Cruises has a wedding chapel where they perform the cruise ship weddings. The Grand Princess and her sister ships all have wedding chapels. Here the Captain is able to perform the ceremony. Wedding options start at $1400.00 per couple with receptions around $70-$80.00 per head. There will be hot and cold hors d oeuvres, drinks and an official marriage certificate, a cake and music. The ships photographer is available and the ships florist can design any arrangements that you have in mind. You can check out their packages on line. Click on the On Board link and then the wedding/special occasions link to get information on weddings on a cruise ship. They even supply you with a phone number for a wedding consultant. The Hearts and Minds Chapel is quite quaint and perfect for a wedding on a cruise ship.

A more upscale option is Crystal Cruise who will perform ceremonies for weddings, vow renewals or anniversaries. Your cruise ship wedding will be performed by the captain or a member of the clergy and includes Champagne, a Portrait, and a cake. They also have a Honeymoon Package with a cake, champagne, a picture and a certificate signed by the captain. I would discuss this one with your agent but of course you could check out their website.

Royal Caribbeans Voyager of the Seas has a wedding chapel and performs cruise ship weddings on the day of embarkation. Their wedding packages start at $800.00. They include flowers for bride and groom, a photo session, champagne and a cake. Go to their website to check out their options.

Carnival Cruises has shore side packages that are all inclusive. There will be a toast with keepsake flutes, a photograph, the wedding cake topper and an engraved announcement. You can also customize any extras for a fee. Talk to your travel agent, or, if you want to do some research on your own, go to the Carnival website.

After your cruise ship wedding take tons of pictures. Especially today with digital cameras, this helps to keep the cost of film and the film development down. Be sure to bring a lot of memory cards. Save stubs from tours you have taken, the invitation to the Captains Table for dinner, any notes you receive from the officers, the brochure that lists the itinerary, the dates of each port of call. You can make many beautiful well documented photo albums that will bring lots of smiles and many fond memories. It is highly recommend building a scrapbook from your trip; you will love it later when you pull it out and relive the experiences. It takes some time but is so worth it to have these pictures after your cruise ship wedding. On our honeymoon aboard the Volendam at the end of the cruise they supplied us with a beautiful menu from each dinner. On one side was the menu and on the other a beautiful scene from Holland.

All ships have a Newlyweds game. Go to it. It is fun and hopefully, you will only be a newlywed once. Participate in all the activities, they are a little bit corny but they do make you laugh. Let everyone know you have just had your cruise ship wedding, people love that. You might even get a few free drinks.

Honeymooning on a ship is a great way to kick back and relax after that year of stressful planning for the cruise ship wedding. It is now time to enjoy you and your spouse and the journey of a lifetime. Take advantage of your time together in a luxurious atmosphere. Have fun, meet new people, make new friends and be yourself, most of these people you will never see again.

Heres to a Bon Voyage, a wonderful cruise ship wedding and great honeymoon.

Essential Advice for Your Wedding Day

Essential Advice for Your Wedding Day
By Keith Kingston

You've been engaged for months, you've made it through planning the
ceremony, the attire, the reception, the honeymoon, and you haven't killed
each other yet. The worst is over. When you wake up on the morning of your
wedding day, your only job is to go along for the ride, enjoy every moment
and make some memories. Read on for essential advice for your wedding day.

Both of you have been waiting and planning for a long time in order to make
this day go off without a hitch. Just be aware that things NEVER go as
planned, so expect the unexpected and don't get too worked up about it. It
is the unexpected events that make the best stories for years to come.
Relax, and have a good time. This is your day to celebrate your blissful
union.

For her:

The day of the wedding is often more stressful for the bride than any of the
planning process has been. Start your morning off with a relaxing bubble
bath or a massage at the spa. You deserve to start this hectic day as cool
and relaxed as you possibly can be. Do it alone if you need some private
time (since you will be surrounded by people ogling and vying for your
attention for the remainder of the day), or if you are nervous and need to
chat, invite the bridesmaids along for some pre-wedding pampering.

Have all appointments made ahead of time, and allow plenty of time for
hair-dos, make-up, manicures, etc. Have a close friend who is not part of
the wedding party act as your gopher for the day. If you get a run in your
pantyhose, they'll be on call to run to the store. If your florist is
running late, they are in charge of calling the company. This will keep you
removed from most of the stressful situations, and keep you moving on
schedule. Don't forget to give your friend a gift for helping you through
any wedding day glitches! Arrive at the church with plenty of time to
spare. Remember, you MIGHT tear up a bit, so have plenty of tissues handy
as to not smear that gorgeous make-up.

Spend the last few minutes before the wedding starts with your bridesmaids.
Do some deep breathing if you're nervous, and think about how long you have
been awaiting this precious day.

For him:

It is perfectly normal for the groom to wake up a bit jittery on the morning
of his wedding. The best way to handle the stress of this day is to make
sure you have all your responsibilities completed ahead of time so you can
spend this day in a stress-free zone. Things to double check the preceding
week include travel plans for the honeymoon, transportation from church to
reception and reception to airport, cost of anyone you will be paying on the
actual wedding day (and remember to have plenty of extra cash for tipping-
EVERYONE involved expects to be tipped at least 15%).

Sleep in. Having plenty of rest is important before the hours of
socializing you'll be doing today. When you get up, a long jog or a trip to
the gym is often just what you'll need to work off some of those anxious
feelings. Allow plenty of time to get ready and arrive early at the church.

Spend some time horsing around with your groomsmen. Take some deep
breaths, and wait for your beautiful bride

Wedding Gown: Getting Your Dream Dress at a Price You Can Afford

Wedding Gown: Getting Your Dream Dress at a Price You Can Afford
By Eriani Doyel

Are you shopping for a wedding gown? If you were not aware of the prices beforehand you may have gone into a little bit of sticker shock when you started pricing your wedding gown. If you are like most people you dont spend $500 or more on a dress every day-and spending that much on a dress that you will wear once seems a little extravagant. However, some people are prepared to spend $2,000 or more to get exactly the wedding gown that they want. Whatever your budget is for your wedding gown, you need to shop carefully to make sure that you get not only a good deal, but a dress that will be one of the highlights of your special day.

One of the best places to find an inexpensive wedding dress is online or in a discount bridal shop. They often have sales and clearance events to make room for new inventory or clean out last years models. You may be able to get a wedding gown for as little as $100 at one of the special events that they hold once or twice a year but most dresses will cost at least $500. However, you should also consider the cost of having the wedding gown taken to a tailor or seamstress for alterations, because these are usually necessary when you buy this type of machine sewn mass-produced dress.

If you are willing to pay a minimum of around $2,000, you can have your wedding gown custom made by a seamstress or tailor. They will have at least 2 or 3 fittings with you to make sure that your dress fits properly on the big day. You should make sure that you ask them for references if you are not familiar with their work and feel free to bring in pictures, a pattern, and fabric samples that you would like to consider.

To those for whom money is no object, a designer dress can be had for $6,000 or more. These dresses are one-of-a-kind masterpieces that will fit you perfectly.

No matter the budget, you can find a dress.

10 Tips to Hiring a Wedding Planner

10 Tips to Hiring a Wedding Planner
By Faith Walker

If you are in the market to hire a wedding consultant, here are ten helpful tips that can guide you through the process of obtaining a profesisonal wedding consultant.

  • 1.Find out exactly what a wedding planner does do your homework.

  • 2.Find the names of the reputable wedding planners in your area.

  • 3.Make a list of things you would like the wedding planner to do. If you want to plan the entire wedding, but you want the planner to direct the ceremony and reception, then you should utilize the service of a wedding planner for Day of services only.

  • 4.Make sure your budget is relative to the type of service you would like. Most wedding planners are willing to work with you for an allotted amount of time if you are unable to purchase a package. Check with him/her to find out if they charge and hourly rate.

  • 5.Find out if your church requires you use their wedding coordinator. Many churches now require that for the protection of the churches property, that brides must use their wedding coordinator. This doesnt mean that coordinator will work at your reception; it means you may have to hire another consultant to do your reception.

  • 6.Check with several bridal associations and see what their members must do to become certified. Find out what classes if any your wedding consultants have taken to become certified or how many years of experience they have had in doing weddings. If they arent that experienced, will they provide you with a discounted rate in exchange for a testimonial.

  • 7.Ask for and check references. It is so important that the wedding planner live up to the expectations of the bride. A good testimonial from a bride is crucial to the consultants business. Check references and find out how the wedding consultant was able to handle stressful situations and how well the wedding guests were treated during the event.

  • 8.Skinny down your list and invite at least three wedding planners for face-to-face interviews. Almost all wedding planners offer free initial consultations so take advantage of this meeting and get to know your potential wedding planner.
  • 9.Ask for a face-to-face interview, dont just price shop. Some wedding planners dont like to give quotes over the phone. You are shopping not only for a service, but a personality. It is crucial to give your business to someone who understands what you are looking for in your vision.

  • 10.Check to see if the wedding planner youve selected is affiliated with any Bridal Planning Association. Not only do you want your planner to be well connected, but you also want her to be in good standing and have a great rapport with any professional associations. Some wedding planners have won awards, and it is nice to be able to see this on a professional website as a sample of their work.

Wedding Invitation Verses: Rhyme Your Way to Love

Wedding Invitation Verses: Rhyme Your Way to Love
By Rebecca Foster

Wedding invitations require a lot of thinking in order to be perfect for your ceremony. Why? Because to achieve perfection, your invitations must really represent your marriage. They must speak for you and not about you or about the reception or the ceremony or anything...

Although I always recommend my clients not to use wordings from other wedding invitations, some wedding invitation verses can be modified for your convenience. Below I will list a few verses I like that you may use or modify to include it in your wedding invitations.

In the spirit of the season

We have found the perfect reason

To gather our friends and family

To celebrate all in harmony...

Our wedding day,

A new life has a start

We'll share with each other

One love, one dream,

One heart...

The adventure has begun

to share all the days of our lives

As we shall become one

as the moment arrives...

The weather outside may be frightful

but the wedding inside will be delightful...

What begun only as fun

Has become true love

We want our friends and family to get a hold of

Ourselves as we become one...

It is a good idea to begin your wedding invitations with these kinds of verses because it gives your cards more personality. Instead of starting out your invitation with your name's or something like that, start them with a quick rhyme to lighten up your guests; use creative wording for wedding invitations.

The verses listed above are somewhat generic and might not suit your invitation. That is why you must think of something that combines with you, your partner and the wedding theme. Aside from you invitation wording, including a picture is also a good idea, but you have to be careful it doesn't look too cheesy. I recommend you to go to a professional and ask him o her to take your pictures.

A Chocolate Fountain For your Wedding Reception

A Chocolate Fountain For your Wedding Reception
By Natalie Aranda

Everyone likes chocolate. When you are planning your wedding reception and are thinking of adding something special that will delight and please your guests, one good suggestion is a chocolate fountain. The chocolate fountain is usually a stainless steel fountain arranged in several tiers that have a decreasing diameter as they rise upward. Melted chocolate is placed in the bottom of the fountain and rises through the center of the fountain via a corkscrew type device and cascades in a solid sheet of chocolate down over the tiers.

The fountain acts as a giant fondue and a wide variety of treats can be placed along side the fountain and guests can use wooden skewers to dip the treats into the chocolate flow. The chocolate flows over and around the treat and coats the treat. Since the chocolate is kept in a melted state by an internal heater, when the food is removed from the fountain flow, the chocolate will harden slightly leaving a thin coating. Then the snack is ready to eat.

Fruits of any kind and other snacks like pretzels and marshmallows make excellent choices for the snacks. Cookies and rice crispy treats are also good suggestions. Just about anything that tastes good with chocolate is acceptable except for crumbly type cakes that will break up in the fountain flow.

Units may be rented and most rental companies provide set up and clean up service. Most do not provide the additional food as wedding caterers usually are providing this and will be glad to add fountain snacks to the food package. It may be possible that you are a lover of Hershey Chocolate or Ghiradelli Chocolate, and you may even prefer Lindt chocolates, and you can certainly add them to your wedding food array. The chocolate fountain will provide their own chocolate though, so you do not have to worry about melting down a thousand Hershey chocolate bars to fill the fountain.

The chocolate used in the fountain usually comes in twenty five pound packages which will be enough for up to four hundred guests. The chocolate is a high quality type which contains between 32-39% cocoa butter. This type provides better flow characteristics which makes it better for use in the fountain. If you are a chocolate lover, and most of us are, a chocolate fountain can be a unique and exciting centerpiece for your wedding reception table.

An Introduction to Wedding Planners

An Introduction to Wedding Planners
By Fernando Bellingham

Congratulations on your engagement! Now it is time to figure out your wedding plans. You might need some help. Here is an introduction to wedding planners and what they do.

An Introduction to Wedding Planners

Weddings may seem fairly simple at first, but they are not. Regardless of your religion or even if you dont have a particular faith, there are lots of traditions and issues to take into account. For many couples, it can get very overwhelming, very fast. Using wedding planners is one way to handle everything with a minimum of fuss while also making sure you meet all the traditional expectations of a wedding.

A wedding planner is simply a person who is intimately familiar with weddings, the issues that need to be addressed in a particular type of wedding and the best way to get everything taken care of. They know which vendors to use and which to avoid. One of the most important services they provide is time. As your wedding approaches, your time can be at a premium. Wedding planners can take the burden of handling caterers, the photographer, musicians and so on off your hands. While that may sound interesting now, you will find it is a critical bit of help as the magic day approaches.

Not all wedding planners are created equal. Unfortunately, certain vendors will have a person called a wedding planner on their staff. This person has a conflict of interest. They will try to help you, but know they better deliver for the vendor or they will be out of a job. Avoid these faux wedding planners at all costs. They typically are associated with some service related to the wedding be it catering, the site of the wedding and so on. You want someone that is independent.

To find a legitimate planner, you should look for certain things. First, the proposed planner should interview about all aspects of your wedding. Second, the planner should be able to propose three to five different vendors for the particular need such as caterers and locations for the wedding. Third, the planner should be willing to give you references to other newlyweds that have used their service. Finally, the planner should clearly indicate the exact role they will perform. If it is anything less than handling all issues and problems that arise, move on to the next prospect.

Weddings are joyful affairs, but they can also be hectic. What you should take from this introduction to wedding planners is a simple rule. The wedding planner should deal with the details and issues that arise while you are free to enjoy your magical day.

Do Not Be Upstaged At Your Own Wedding!

Do Not Be Upstaged At Your Own Wedding!
By Kathleen Storment

The bride and her family had planned the most elegant wedding I have ever attended. Every detail that money could buy was remembered. The bride had obviously been planning her dream wedding for years. There were seven gorgeous attendants in exquisite dresses and an equal number of handsome groomsmen. The bride and groom had selected the most adorable three-year-old to be their flower girl. She did a wonderful job of strewing petals down the aisle. It was when she reached the altar that her one woman show began.

The ceremony continued while the little princess ran back and forth and back and forth upstaging any other activity that should have been the center of attention. Her grandmother tried to discreetly coax her to the pews...no luck! Her mother was one of the attendants, and obviously did not deem it necessary to grab her and go. Even the bride showed signs of annoyance. The bride should have been the princess on display that day. Instead she was upstaged by a three year old! There are lessons to be learned here. Plan for the unexpected. If you are going to choose a very young flower girl or ring bearer, make an arrangement for them during the ceremony. This wedding, frankly, would not have missed the bridesmaid-mommy. After all, there were six more!

The bride deserves to be the center of attention...not an adorable, but uncontrollable flower girl! When guests reflect on this wedding, they remember the flower girl and her antics. With all the money spent and planning done for years previous to the ceremony, what should be remembered is all the details, the beautiful bride, and handsome groom. Do not let a three-year-old spoil the most important day of your lives!

Christian Wedding Songs

Christian Wedding Songs
By Lyne Doxley

Weddings are a joyous celebration of the love and bond between two people who have chosen to come together as one. They are usually conducted in front of a minister or priest, in order to celebrate the solemnity of the occasion and to make it more binding in the eyes of God and man. And what better way to celebrate that bond other than with musicwith Christian wedding songs, to be precise. Although the traditional wedding march is the common music that plays in the background, imagine walking down the aisle, looking all beautiful, while there is music playing that expresses exactly how you feel that special day. A Christian wedding song whose words evoke a special meaning between you and your future husband. Now that would indeed be something special.

Religion & Music

Most religions consider wedding ceremonies to be a form of worship service, and thus, are very strict about preserving the solemnity of the event. This is the reason why most churches do not allow the playing of popular love songs during the wedding. So, how do you choose songs that are not only religious in nature, but also focus on values and ideals related to love and marriage? Well, this happens to be where Christian wedding songs come in.

Christian wedding songs offer a balance between a love song and a religious song, which is extremely perfect for wedding ceremonies and the receptions as well. These types of songs set the tone for the whole event, ushering in an ambiance of being not too solemn and not too informal. Hence, you can have the wedding song of your dreams playing as you walk down the aisle through Christian wedding songs.

Searching for the Songs

There is quite a remarkable selection of Christian wedding songs that you and your future spouse can choose from. Choosing a song can be a challenging task, because there are a lot of very good songs out there. You would want to choose a song that carries a special meaning for you and your future partner, something thats not so common that youve heard it a hundred times at other weddings youve been to.

If youre not too familiar with Christian wedding songs, you can opt to visit your local music or record store and browse through the available selections there.

Or, you can also surf the Internet. You will surely find a whole lot of sources for Christian wedding songs. Some websites even post lists for the most popular Christian wedding songs being used, which you can also check out.

If youre going to hire a DJ or a vocal soloist for your wedding, you can also ask him or her with regard to the music selection they have available on Christian wedding songs. You can ask for recommendations as well, in order to limit your search. Have them play it in order for you to be able to make a decision whether you want to use it in the wedding or not.

Hiring Vocal Soloists

Hiring a vocal soloist for your wedding will indeed bring with it a more special and intimate touch. Accompanied by either a piano, guitar, or violin, singing Christian wedding songs live can definitely make your wedding into a more unique one.

The vocalist can sing the Christian wedding songs you chose, be it during the lighting of the candles, before the procession, before the vows, during communion, etc. It all depends on you.

Christian Music

Music happens to be one of the most important elements in a wedding as it sets the tone and mood of the whole event. Wedding Coasters

Wedding Coasters
By Sarah Freeland

Wedding coasters are a great item to purchase for your wedding because they can be used for several things. The first thing that they can be used for is as a wedding favor. If you plan on using wedding coasters for wedding favors then you will need to select coasters that feature a design that reflects the theme of your wedding, or that reflects the name or motto of the married couple.

Personalized wedding coasters are another option that you have. If you decide to personalize your wedding coasters then they can be used as a coaster, as a personalized place setting, and as a wedding favor. To save money on personalized wedding coaster buy a basic coaster with a color scheme or design that will compliment your weddings theme and style, and then personalize each wedding coaster by hand using stencils or a calligraphy pen. If you have enough money in your wedding budget, then this process can be sent out to a professional calligrapher.

Monogram coasters are another wedding favor option that you can use. For these coasters you have a few options. First your wedding coasters can be monogrammed with the initial of the couples shared last name. Secondly your wedding coasters can be monogrammed with the initials of the bride on one side and the groom on the other side. Finally the coasters can be personalized for each guest. If you decide to use this option then you will want to make sure that the personalized monogram coasters are placed in a favor bad that is labeled for the person that it is intended for.

Things You Shouldn't Do On Your Wedding Day

Things You Shouldn't Do On Your Wedding Day
By Lesley-Ann Graham

If there are wedding do's then there are obviously wedding don'ts. Everyone wants their nuptials remembered for good things and nothing more, which is why we bring you this list of things to avoid in preparing for your wedding...

1. A venue with poor ventilation in the sweltering heat. The last thing you want is for your guests to melt at your nuptials or party. Help them stay cool by choosing a reception that has proper air conditioning. If there isn't at least provide everyone with fans.

2. Keep the guests waiting. Their time is precious and some of them are also tired. It is thoughtless to be sitting leisurely in a comfortable waiting room for the reception venue to become full just so that you can make a grand entrance.

3. A master of ceremonies who thinks he's a stand up comedian and takes pot shots at your guests. Definitely memorable but only as a really bad show.

4. A dragged out wedding program. Your guests will be bored and tired and just waiting for a chance to exit your party if you don't ensure that the program is well thought out.

5. Strange, exotic food in the menu. You may want to impress them by having a foreign dish on the list but not everyone will appreciate eating frogs legs, even if it does taste like chicken. Keep the food simple, elegant yet tasty.

6. Games that are embarrassing, gross or ill thought out. Keep the banana eating contest and similar parlor games for less formal events. Better to keep any games you'll have simple and fun for everyone, not a select few.

Follow these rules and your guests will thank you for it!

10 Must Have Gift Ideas For The Wedding Party

10 Must Have Gift Ideas For The Wedding Party
By Nathan T. Lynch

It is customary to honor your bridesmaids for their participation in your wedding with a gift of appreciation. Traditional gifts include a piece of jewelry such as earrings or a necklace that complements their bridesmaids dress and can be worn on the wedding day but many bridesmaids will truly appreciate a more unique gift idea. With careful consideration you may be able to give your bridesmaids gifts that show your appreciation for their assistance and also demonstrate that you understand their personality as well.

One unique gift ideas for your bridesmaids is an evening bag to be used as an accessory on the wedding day. This gift can be a lovely gesture and will serve the purpose of keeping the accessories of the bridesmaids uniform and will free your bridesmaid from the burden of searching for an evening bag that matches the dress. In this case you may choose to give the bridesmaids their gifts early in the wedding planning so that they dont purchase a bag specifically for the occasion of your wedding.

A photo album complete with a picture of you and the bridesmaid or the entire wedding party can be another unique gift idea for the bridesmaids. You could purchase photo albums with the date of your wedding engraved on the front cover and start the photo album with a picture of you and the bridesmaid. This is a wonderful gift idea because the bridesmaid can place her photos from the wedding day in the album and will always have a precious souvenir from your wedding day.

Gift certificates to a spa or a salon also make unique gift ideas for your bridesmaids. Your bridesmaids most likely spent a great deal of time and energy in helping you to plan your wedding. The week prior to your wedding was also probably especially hectic with a great deal of last minute details to attend to and errands to run. While you will have your honeymoon to relax and renew your energy your bridesmaids do not have this luxury so by honoring them by presenting them with a gift certificate to a spa or salon you are giving them the gift or being pampered and the gift of relaxation.

Another popular gift idea for the bride to give the groom is tickets to a sporting event for him and his best friend. This is a truly thoughtful and selfless gift that lets the groom know that you understand his interests and that you want to assure him that you will not try to minimize his relationships with his friends. If your groom is a sports fan, he is sure to enjoy this thoughtful gift.

Any item that relates to a specific hobby that the groom enjoys is a great idea for a wedding gift for the bride to give to the groom. This is a popular choice because giving a gift that relates to one of his hobbies demonstrates that you understand his likes and that you want him to continue to engage in activities that he enjoys.

Another creative gift idea that a bride may choose to honor her groom with is a short video depicting their relationship together. If the couple used their video recorder often, the bride would be able to edit the video into a concise video and possibly even set the video to music. This creative gift idea gives the groom an easy way to look back into the past and remember the good times that the two of you have had together.

Unique gift ideas for the bridesmaids can also stem from the wedding theme. For example if you are having a beach themed wedding you might want to give your bridesmaids a gift of a tote bag, a beach towel and a novel to enjoy on the beach. This unique gift idea ensures that your bridesmaids will remember your wedding fondly the next time they are at the beach.

Although the tradition of the bride and groom exchanging gifts on their wedding day is beginning to fade, many couples still wish to honor this tradition. Many couples spend so much money on their wedding and reception that they feel as though they cannot afford the additional expense of buying gifts for each other. While it may be true that the couple cannot afford one more extravagant gift it is also true that a truly thoughtful gift for the groom does not have to be overly expensive. If the couple is partaking in this tradition it is advisable that they exchange gifts that truly reflect the personality of their spouse.

Ten Ways to Have an Irish Wedding

Ten Ways to Have an Irish Wedding
By Jackie Duescher

Honor your Emerald Isle heritage with traditions that are romantic, clever, and a couple that are downright strange. Uncover here how to fill your wedding with all things Irish save the Blarney Stone.

Harvest Knots

According to history, Irish men declared their intentions of marriage by giving their fiancee harvest knots of straw decorated with flowers or bells to wear in their hair or around their neck. Make a harvest knot to wear on your wedding day, or place one in your bouquet to symbolize your Irish heritage.

Ceilidh

The steps of Irish folkdances are called ceilidh. Treat your attendants to an Irish dancing lesson, and then perform a jig to traditional Irish music at the reception.

Lace! A way to incorporate Celtic pride into your wedding attire (besides hand-beading four leaf clovers all over your gown) is to adorn yourself with beautiful Irish lace. Known for its intricate patterns and zenith quality, wear a veil or carry a handkerchief made of this intricate Irish decoration.

Playin' o' the Pipes

Infuse your ceremony with the strains of the Irish pipes. Although bagpipes have Celtic roots, they are traditionally Scottish. For a truly Emerald Isle affair, locate an Irish uillean piper to lead the processional or recessional.

Irish Wedding Feast

The customary wedding feast in Ireland was a potluck hosted at the bride's family's home. Each guest brought traditional Irish dishes such as soda bread, coddle, and stew. Even if you're having a more formal reception, you can still celebrate this Irish tradition by having a feast for your bridal shower or rehearsal dinner.

The Wedding Cake

Old custom dictates that the Irish wedding cake (usually a dense fruit cake with white icing) was cut by one of the bride's sisters or bridesmaids. Where would they cut it? Over her head, of course. The bride remained seated while the groomsmen held the cake over her head while her sister or best friend did the honors. Our only concern: this tradition works best and safest when the cake is NOT a four-tiered confectionary concoction. Eeeek!

Noise Makers

A noisy way to ring in your nuptials with the luck o' the Irish is to have a recessional like those in Celtic history: instead of throwing rice upon exiting the church, men would fire rifles or other firearms into the air to signal that a couple is wed. Not your traditional exit (most churches would frown upon guns in the parking lot), if the men use blanks in their guns, and if you are getting married in an area without noise ordinances, then fire away, Irish style.

Giving the Claddagh

Two hands holding a heart underneath a crown is the Irish symbol for Let Love and Friendship Reign. Share your Irish heritage with your attendants by giving them Celtic-inspired gifts marked with the claddagh. Give your maid of honor a candle gift engraved with the faith ring, or jewelry made of claddagh. Buy claddagh wedding rings, or wear the Irish symbol around your neck on your wedding day as a reminder of your heritage.

Tokens of Hair

A more unusual Irish tradition is for the man to give the woman he loves a bracelet woven of human hair. Symbolic of acceptance, when the woman wears the circle of hair, she is linking herself to him for life. There's no mention of exactly who's hair it is, however, so if wearing hair jewelry gives you the heevies, see Harvest Knots for the same idea, using straw instead. Lucky Dates

The traditionally superstitious Irish believed that the last day of the year is especially lucky, since the couple would wake up on the first day of their new life on the first day of the new year. Plan your wedding for December 31, the luckiest of Celtic days.

Jackie Duescher provides the customer service for Keepsake Favors as well as inspiration for many of the favor creations on the site. Jackie has a special knack for finding Irish themed favors for weddings other occasions, and she firmly believes that a favor doesn't have to be expensive to impress your guests.

Wonderful White Gold Wedding Rings

Wonderful White Gold Wedding Rings
By Donna Monday

The elegant and sophisticated look of glittering, gleaming gold. Theres nothing quite like it.

Some people never grow tired of the look of pure gold jewelry. Gold, being our most precious metal, is often a first choice among couples looking for that perfect gold wedding ring.

While yellow gold remains very popular with the wedding crowd. Many people prefer the brilliant hue of a white gold wedding ring.

White gold will look beautiful on you whether youre a man or a woman. You can find online a great selection of white gold diamond wedding rings and white gold wedding ring sets. Also, if youre looking for something a little fancier that can also become a piece of wonderful keepsake jewelry, white gold makes a very elegant engraved wedding ring that can be passed on to future generations.

The one thing you need to be aware of when buying a white gold wedding ring is that it will need periodic maintenance in order to keep its luster.

To obtain its much desired glittering white color, white gold is coated with another alloy called Rhodium (the natural color of white gold is really light gray). Rhodium will wear down after a while, so to maintain your rings luster, youll need to visit your local jeweler about every 12-18 months and have it re-plated with a new coating of Rhodium. The cost for this should be very reasonable.

Whether youre looking for a plain gold wedding band, or a wedding ring with sparkling diamonds, white gold is an excellent choice for those looking for something a little extra special.

The Perfect Wedding Flower Decoration

The Perfect Wedding Flower Decoration
By Robbie Darmona

Orange blossoms, sunflowers, roses and dahlias; violets and lilies; orchids and tulips: all flowers are beautiful. They are also a symbol of love. And an inevitable part of all wedding ceremonies. So inevitable, that many couples go crazy when having to choose the flower decoration for their wedding party. Wedding flower decoration is vital for this red-letter day in everyones life. Flower designs can be different and can translate various meanings to the guests of the wedding party. Many things can be concluded about the bride and bridegrooms future marriage, depending on the choice of their wedding flower decorations. If your wedding ceremony is getting closer, perhaps it is time to choose your flower decoration that will make the celebration unforgettable.

Wedding flower decoration can be of various kinds. You can choose a large arch of flowers or a centre-piece, or both- everything is suitable depending on your taste. Use your own creative imagination and choose the best flower decoration for the great event. It is important that you decide on flower arrangement that suits your wedding settings. Choose a color combination that appeals to you and is in harmony with the entire setting. The flower decoration can consist of seasonal and local flowers. You should as specifically as possible decide on the size, shape and color for the different flower arrangements. You may easily get some piece of advice from a magazine: there are large varieties of all kinds of flowers. Silk flowers and dried flowers can be an opportunity, too. Remember: your wedding flower decoration is meant to express you and your personal style, but comply also with your loved ones taste. Additional factors should influence your choice: the season, the time of day for the party, the location atmosphere and so on. These weather conditions make a difference and you should have them in mind before deciding strongly on something. A cunning way to make wedding flower decoration suitable is color blocking. Color blocking is called the procedure of choosing a specific color or combination of several colors and using it as the leading nuance when you create all your wedding settings. For example, you may choose the classical white, and put white orchids on the white tablecloths, and prepare your wedding bouquet with white being the predominant color.

There are several types of flower arrangements that are used during the ceremony.

BOUQUETS. They are flower decorations for the bride. A wedding bouquet must be carefully chosen depending on the personal characteristics of the woman. Its color must stress on her individuality, and its shape must emphasize on her body silhouette, giving her the best possible looks. There are many different wedding bouquets, and their design depends on the brides skin tone, body proportion, facial appearance and attire.

BOUTONNIERES. These flower decorations are worn by the groom and his attendance, also by the ushers, and the brides and grooms fathers. They are made of small flower buds attached on the left lapel of the jacket.

CORSAGES. They can be worn in pin-on, wrists and hand-held styles. As a flower decoration they combine a small bloom or several blooms tied together.

WREATHS. This is a splendid flower decoration that has a round shape. The rings of flowers are used as centerpieces, headpieces or door hangers.

CANDELABRA. They are made of flowing greens in the shape of ribbons. They are put at the base, neck or top of multi-armed candelabra.

Great Candy Wedding Favor Ideas

Great Candy Wedding Favor Ideas
By Ashley Beck

Wedding favors are a great way to set-off your wedding. Guests will remember your wedding because you were different; you made them feel special for coming.

There are a lot of different types of wedding favors. One that couples commonly use is candy wedding favors. Giving your guest pieces of chocolate or a candy bar or even gummy bears, can make them feel special.

Depending on your budget and how much time you have, you can either make your own wedding favors or buy personalized ones. Either way, youre guest are sure to feel more special. Remember, this is your big day and you dont want your guests leaving unhappy. Because, trust me, they will talk about itwhether they had a wonderful time or didnt.

One idea for cheap candy wedding favors is buy a couple five pound bags of gummy bears or whatever you and your finacees favorite candy is. Then buy little truffle boxes and embossed ribbon and assembled it yourselves. If you dont like truffle boxes, try buying some tulle or fabric that you like and cutting it into squares. Then bring the edges up and tie the fabric with ribbon! This only cost about $30 for 100 favors!! You cant beat that. Thats less than 3 cents per guest!! And youll leave your guests happy!

Another idea for making your own candy wedding favors is chocolate dipped spoons! These make great coffee stirrers and they flavor your coffee. You can either buy pre-made chocolate spoons, which will save you time. Or buy plastic spoons and chocolate chips (try flavored for a variety). Melt the chocolate and then dip the spoons in the chocolate and let harden. This might be a fun thing to do with a bunch of your girlfriends or even with your finacee!

Have candy bar wrappers personalized with your name! All you have to do is send off for these and then wait. When they arrive, theyll be all ready to go. This is one less thing you have to worry about!

10 Important Tips on How to Get Great Wedding Pictures!

10 Important Tips on How to Get Great Wedding Pictures!
By Tordis Tverfjell

1.
Book wedding photographer early The best ones are hard to get and may have bookings over a year in advance. (book 6-12 month prior to wedding)

2.
Never order the photographer by phone. Meat him/her and get a first hand impression of the photographer. Remember the personal chemistry between you and the photographer is important in making you feel free and relaxed. This will again show in the pictures.

3.
Pick 3-4 interesting photographers in the area you are getting married.
Surf their web sites. If you are having a theme wedding check if they have experience doing the theme wedding you are planning.
Look for sample pictures made at earlier wedding. Be extra observant on the picture quality. Make sure the sample photos are taken by the same person coming to your wedding.
And finally what is your overall feeling. Do you think the photographers style and personal touch will match your wedding picture ideas?

4.
Ask for references and use them. Only through firsthand info from other brides will you get real objective critics.

5.
If you have a clear plan on how you want the pictures to be stick to that plan. Dont let other people push you into anything else unless you feel their advice is genuinely a better choice.

6.
Use the pre meetings at the photographer well. It is here you lay it all out for him/her. Tell him/her your wishes and ideas for the wedding photos. Bee clear on you wishes.

7.
Be aware of the different photo styles and expressions common at wedding of today. .Would you like it classical and simple (black and white pictures could be a great idea.) or maybe big, fluffy and romantic( go with large to everything and prepare yourself for a rollercoaster.)

8.
During the photo session it is important that you relax. Be in the moment and focus on each other. Be playful and daring Remember it is emotions that make a good wedding picture. Dont get stuck up in thinking about how you appear and how the pictures are going to look. THAT is the photographers job.

9.
Sit down with your love one after the wedding and look through the 100 to 150 different pictures taken ( the standard number of pictures photographers take at a wedding session)
Look through them several times put them away and look at them again.
Let the Groom pick his favourite picture of the bride and vice versa. Take chances and dare to choose untraditional wedding photos.

10.
Have in mind that it is usually not a problem to choose 2 or 3 different pictures styles for the thank you card. This makes it easier to customize the picture cards you send to your family and you know everyone gets a wedding picture that fits them.

I wish you the best for the happy day and all your days to come!

Wedding Lore

Wedding Lore
By Mary Jane Holmes

There are few other life events so steeped in tradition as weddings. Do you know the origins of our present day customs? Why do we follow them? Well that one is easy you do it because your mom did and her mom and so on back countless generations. Here is some of the history behind many of our modern day wedding traditions.

Bridesmaid Dresses are often identical in style and color. Why? In ancient times the brides friends and female relatives would dress exactly like the bride in an effort to fool evil spirits bent on spoiling her happiness.
The Post Vow Kiss The Ancient Romans sealed every legal contract with a kiss. Thus the marriage was not legal until the bride and groom kissed. This is why the wedding official says, You may now kiss the bride.
The White Wedding Gown brides have always worn white, Right? No white wedding dresses did not become common in the west until Queen Victoria wore one at her wedding. Before that bright colors were the norm.

The Receiving Line originated in ancient times when it was believed that good luck came to anyone who touched the bride and groom on their wedding day. Giving Away the Bride Long ago an unmarried girl or woman was considered her fathers property, so at the wedding he would walk her down the aisle of the church, and give her away thereby transferring ownership to the husband.

Why Does the Groom Carry the Bride Across the Threshold? There is more than one bit of lore about this practice. One is that when a girl could be kidnapped and forced to marry against her will, the groom would have to carry her by force into her new home.

Another is that ancient Romans considered it bad luck for a bride to trip when crossing the threshold of her new home. So the groom would carry her in.

Tying the Knot In Celtic, Egyptian and Hindu cultures, the hands of the bride and groom were tied together to symbolize their new bond and commitment to the marriage.

June Weddings Roman mythology held Juno as the god of home ,childbirth and marriage, this is thought to be where the popularity of June weddings originated.

Best Man Back when a man would steal his bride, he would often have to fight her male relatives to keep her. He depended on his best man (friend) for help in fighting them and to get him and his bride safely to the church.

A Locked Church Door In Irish tradition, once the bride and groom were safely inside the church, guests would lock the church door to prevent the groom from running if he changed his mind.

Honeymoon This is another practices with different legends about its origin. One is that if a man kidnapped a girl and could keep her hidden from her family, for a month (moon) she was his to marry. Another is that parents would keep the couple supplied with mead a drink made from fermented honey for a moon, there would be a male offspring within a year.

There are hundreds of other wedding customs many of them unique to a particular religious or ethnic heritage. So if you want something different at your wedding seek out the traditions of your heritage.

Writing the Perfect Wedding Speech or Wedding Toast

Writing the Perfect Wedding Speech or Wedding Toast
By Amy Spade

If youre not feeling creative, there are a lot of ways to come up with a great speech or toast, so dont feel like youre under too much pressure.

Yet.

When stealing is good

Before we go into advice on speeches, the best thing that you can do is to get started on it early. Although these techniques and tips will work in the last few weeks leading up to the wedding, you really need to practice to make it look good.

Back to the advice, you dont have to write your speech in order to give one. You can search the Internet for other peoples speeches and selectively borrow from them. Although some English scholars and copyright authors would squabble over plagiarismyoure not using this to make money, so you should be fine. If you fear that someone is going to arrest you, then quote the whole speech, giving the true authors name.

Whats good about looking through other speeches is that you may just end up personalizing them anyways and coming up with your own ideas. Thats how you write a good speech.

Getting ideas

A lot of writing speeches and toasts is from listening to other ones. Talk to the person-who-you-are-toastings friends and family to see if there are any stories that would make a good toast. Youd be surprised at some of the things that you can find out. Of course, the really embarrassing ones should be saved for bachelor or bachelorette parties.

You may also want to find a poem that relates to them and read that aloud. Poems are always good emotional material. Try to find ones that speak of married love, rather than the newness of love. This will demonstrate your faith in their new marriage, rather than concentrating on the courtship.

And dont feel that you have to be stuck in finding something thats overly emotional. You can find something funny and have the whole reception hall laughing. Humor is tricky though because it can go south in a blink of an eye. Keep it clean, and youre usually fine.

The key to a great wedding toast or speech is the honesty with which you deliver it. A lot of times, it isnt the words that are moving, but the emotion that drives the toast or the speech. Be yourself and be true to the couple, and youre sure to be appreciated.

Should You Have a Big or Small Wedding?

Should You Have a Big or Small Wedding?
By Fernando Bellingham

Once you have decided to get married, you will have a lot of decisions to make about the wedding ceremony. The first is whether it should be big or small.

A wedding ceremony is one of those events that have always been steeped in tradition. In the classic version, all the people that are important are invited. On top of that, all the people in your extended family are also invited. This includes all such people for both the groom and the bride. Once you put it all together, you can be looking at a wedding with 200 people or more. This can result in a wonderful celebration of your bond, but it has some downsides.

A wedding with over 200 people is going to be expensive. If you doubt this, take a moment to consider the simple cost of feeding 200 people at the reception. Now also take into account the size and cost of the location for the ceremony. How about the reception? Simply put, it can quickly add up. The total cost of a wedding of this size can easily come in at $50,000 or more. Obviously, you can trim here and there when planning it, but you should still expect a significant expense.

One step more and more couples are taking is to forgo the traditional wedding. The thought of spending so much money on a one day event is simply too much. Instead, the couples usually look to more practical uses for the money in their new life together. The primary practicality is using the money for a down payment on a new home where they can live and start accumulating wealth as the home grows in value.

So, what is the correct choice? Well, it depends on your personal taste. For some couples, the wedding represents the most glorious day of their lives and they want the celebration to be the ultimate representation of their commitment to each other. For others, a more subtle celebration is enough with the purchase of a home being a better way to get their life together off on the right foot.

At the end of the day, the decision is really yours to make. If you want a big wedding, then do it. If you prefer to use the money in other ways, go ahead. As long as you both are happy with your decision, it is the right answer.

By Lesley-Ann Graham

Normally, the way to let people know of your upcoming nuptials is for you to meet them in person, or to tell them by phone, or to send them the actual invitation. Announce your engagement and talk about how you met; let your family and friends share in your love story. Take the time to introduce your fiance/e (feel free to include a picture) so that your loved ones know what he looks like.

Why not save on the cost of having invitations printed and make soft copies instead. Scan the actual invite and post it on your site. You might want to check, your web host may actually have thrown in a virtual invitation design tool to help you create one from scratch easily online.

A website is also great for posting directions and announcements such as where you've been able to secure rooms for those coming in from out of town, and how to get to your wedding if they don't live in your area. How about creating an online bridal registry? This will make it easier for your guests to give you what you prefer and they'll be able to save some time by shopping online.

You may be thinking it must be too difficult to create one; you never learned how to really use the computer. Some wedding planners have easy to create sites just for you. Wedding Vows From Traditional Wedding Vows To Funny Wedding Vows A How To Guide

Wedding Vows - From Traditional Wedding Vows To Funny Wedding Vows, A How To Guide
By Thomas Morton

There are many different kinds of wedding vows to recite at your upcoming celebration. For those of us who are searching online for wedding vows, you are most likely interested in writing them or at least finding good vows to copy. You can find dozens of great examples online, from traditional to funny wedding vows.

Now you have to choose what type of vow you are going to use. Traditional wedding vows are like an old song, and some might say they're a little boring, but traditional wedding vows are timeless, simple and perfect for any couple. Attendees will take comfort in the classic recitations as well make those who are already married remember back to when they too were reciting the exact same lines.

But it's true too that traditional wedding vows can seem stale to modern brides and grooms. The words are too formal, submissive and serious. Using funny wedding vows can lighten the mood and still can convey the seriousness of your intentions. It's been said that the best way to your lover's heart is through laughter. Make them laugh and you will enjoy many fun years ahead.

But how do you go about writing these wedding vows, you ask. It can be very difficult to find the words, but there are some guidelines that might help you write your own vows.

First write down as many reasons on a sheet of paper, Why I love (FUTURE SPOUSE). Now write down as many funny things about your relationship that you can think of. Now write down any quirky little habits or aspects about your future spouse that you can think of, and why you love them more because of it. Finally, write down what you are prepared to offer your future spouse today, tomorrow, and when you are both 90 and gray haired. Once you have this list of ideas, start to join them into sentences. You will find that you have just created a very thoughtful wedding vow. Good Luck!
